Professional Soccer is Returning to Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis Football Club Will Enter USL League Two in 2026
Memphis Football Club, partly owned by former MLS player and Memphis native Carey Talley and his brother, will begin playing next year. They will play in 2,500 seater Mike Rose Soccer complex. Parents of the Talley brothers, John and Kim Talley, were behind the creation of that complex— which was completed 24 years ago.

Our take on the situation: This is brilliant news for soccer fans in Memphis. Previous pro soccer team in Memphis, which was Memphis 901 FC, folded last year after they were unable to secure funding for a soccer stadium. USMNT legend Tim Howard was part of that team’s ownership group. It’s a good thing Memphis will not be without a soccer team for too long.
“A Lot of Amazing Players”
Ivan Rakitic Praises the USMNT
Ivan Rakitic, Croatian legend and former Barcelona midfielder, recently spoke about the USMNT. He talked about the amazing players they have, a big coach, and the lack of pressure to perform.

Our take on the situation: It’s interesting to hear comments on the USMNT from people in different countries. Rakitic knows all about the World Cup, he was a part of that 2018 team that reached the final. So it’s great to see he thinks the USMNT have many amazing players.
A New Stadium Coming to Miami
Miami FC Announced Stadium Plans
Miami FC are showing Inter Miami that they aren’t the only soccer team in town. Currently playing in USL Championship, Miami FC have announced plans to build a 15,000 seater stadium— which will be a part of Sports Performance Hub’s 80-acre, $300 million development project.

Our take on the situation: This is fantastic news for soccer fans in Miami. Inter Miami are already building a stadium that’s coming soon. Another stadium in the area will just spark the interest for fans. Let’s hope Miami FC build a competitive team too.
Panamanian Legend is Back
Seatown FC Appoint Roman Torres as New Coach
Seatown FC, a team based in Burien, Washington and will be competing in the UPSL, appointed Panamanian legend Román Torres as their head coach. Torres has experience as a player winning two MLS Cup with Seattle Sounders and captaining Panama in the 2018 World Cup. This is his first head coaching job.

Our take on the situation: Let’s see how he does as a coach, but this looks to be a great appointment for Seatown FC. What an opportunity for young players to learn from someone like Torres, who carved out a fantastic playing career for himself.
“How Do You Do That? You Can’t Do It”
Peter Vermes Shuts Down Pro/Rel Idea in MLS
Peter Vermes, former USMNT forward and former Sporting Kansas City coach, was asked about potential promotion/relegation in MLS. He said how would you go to an owner who spent $1.2 billion between the franchise fee, the stadium, training ground, and the players, and convince him his team will get relegated. You can’t do it.

Our take on the situation: Vermes has a point. The way MLS is set up right now, the owners will be completely against the idea of being relegated to the second tier. Without the owners spending money, MLS will not be able to survive.
